Now Dolly Dear
You have been here
A long time
Almost a year
And we have played
WIth one another
That you were baby
And I was mother.
But now I have
To leave you home
And go to preschool
on my own
It will be hard
but don't you cry
One has to leave
the nest to fly
You will be safe
here on my bed
with teddy bear
and pillowed head
and Mommy will
look in on you
as good Grandmas
are 'sposed to do
She said I have
to grow and learn
she went to school
now its my turn
Just one more hug
and don't you cry
if you can be brave
so can I
This blog details the goings on in the life of a mom of many, graduate student, tvless, wanna-be grandma. I haven't had cable since July of 2009 but started blogging about it in September. Feel free to explore my world via the thoughts I jot.

Sammy just told me he is opening a hospital for all of his stuffed animals who have been chewed up by Brinkley.
Sam was likely inspired by our trip to the ER yesterday. Yes. Doug is out of town, which by Murphy's and Debenham law, a medical emergency is destined to take place.Drew got his head glued back together after having it sliced open by the edge of a snowboard.
Ya. Glue. Go figure.
Doug told me he had a suture kit and he would gladly walk me through sewing it up myself.I didn't hesitate before rejecting that plan. But after watching the nurse and doc with the hot glue gun, (just kidding) it wasn't hot...I mean the super glue...(Now this is technically not far from the truth. I know because I asked. He, (the doc), said it actually was exactly the same as superglue, just steryl.
Now how do you sterylize superglue? I dunno. Question for another day.
Now back to my story...)Where was I? Oh ya.
After watching the doc and nurse I realize I could have done this at home. All I would have had to do is clean up all the blood, squeeze some antibiotic ointment into my child's head, have Lila get smelling salts as by this time I will be out cold and puking my guts out, then get my tube of superglue and squeeze some in and hold it shut until it is dried.Okay so I would rather pay the $100 co-payment and have the professionals do the dirty work.I seriously almost passed out cold. And that was just during the washing up part. I was remembering what a comfort it was for Mom to hold my hand or my whole person when getting a shot, so I was trying to 'be' there for Drew.
It is close to impossible to be there for your baby when he has blood flowing from his head. In fact, Drew had to ask me a couple of times if I was okay.If I could only get my boys interested in some other kind of board. Surf, skate and snow all are potentially lethal. Now ironing...Haven't heard of too many trips to the hospital from a fatal ironing board incident.
But then, these are my boys. Please all knock on wood.
Spencer came home and told me about his latest run-in with the principal. He took a petition in to her signed by all of his fellow fifth graders. His mission was to eliminate the forced wearing of snowpants in the month of April. He didn't get the results he wanted, (Ms. Principal said, 'no way'), but his mom is thrilled. That little Aspergian has come a LONG way. This is the same boy who couldn't give an oral report in 3rd grade. Now he is initiating contact with other students and leading them down the hall to the principal's office, petition in hand and change on his mind!I'm so proud I could burst.Hopefullly that won't happen because we've already been to the ER our share of visits.
